Each one should whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms" 1 Peter 4: 10 The basic roll and responsibilities of the Board of Managers are defined in the Book of Forms [BoF], chapter 4, paragraphs 158-173, also 152-154. Primary responsibility for the Congregation's "temporal and financial affairs" is delegated to the Board of Managers, and Session and Board have a "duty to co-operate closely" in matters pertaining to stewardship. [BoF 162] The Board of Managers shall have a membership of fifteen, one of whose number shall be appointed from the Kirk Session. The remainder shall be elected by the Congregation at its Annual Meeting. One third of those elected members shall retire each year. The Board shall present nominations to the Annual Meeting for the vacant positions, to which the retiring members may be re-elected. Also at the Annual Meeting, the Board will present nominations for its Convener, Treasurer, together with those for Trustees and Financial Reviewers [auditors]. [BoF 159,160 & 167] The Board of Managers has responsibility for the maintenance of the property (facilities, grounds and equipment), for financial stewardship (fund raising, e.g., Project 2002, financial management), for those staff members who relate directly to it, and for long-term planning in conjunction with the Session. To assist in fulfilling the first three of these responsibilities, the Board structure will include Finance, Property and Personnel Committees. In addition to these core responsibilities, the Board of Managers has responsibility for/oversight of church insurance, service contracts, the production of reports and arrangements for Annual Congregational Meetings. Additionally, and in conjunction with the Church Secretary the Board Property Committee shall be responsible for the oversight of facilities reservations, rentals and leases. The exception to this, is use of the sanctuary, which is subject to the approval of Session for all organisations and associations not directly associated with the Presbyterian Church in Canada. [BoF 109.2] Other groups/organizations/programs relating to this committee include: W.A. [now dissolved] Staff relating to the Board include: Church Officer and Secretary. Ex officio, voting members of this committee include: the Church Treasurer, and may include the Envelope Secretary.
